Battle Take Classic

10-9 FINAL SCORELINE

Razor thin line separates Alamo City and Capital District in 2018.
The first leg was a chess battle that ended in a surprisingly low scoring draw (3-3).  Both the Gunners and the Battle were left scratching their heads.  Heading into the second and deciding bout for THE CLASSIC, both teams were looking at possible pivot points in their season.  Capital District had been setting the pace before their loss last weekend.  Alamo (along with Gateway) had been pulling themselves up from the pack and looking to position for a end of season scramble for the Honors Trophy.  Kaku Gamarra paced Alamo City and was the difference in the match.  7-6 for the second leg is much more like the match everyone was expecting.  The win for the Battle has put the last three weeks into "anyone's game" territory.  Gateway now sits in first (both they and Alamo have only one loss on the season) and CD is in 2nd but only one point ahead of Alamo City.  The top three clubs are separated by only 2pts.  Alamo will play Gateway on the final match day of the season.
