Alamo City 2014 Designated Players

Alamo City Stalwart Returns as Does Electrifying Superstar

Making waves is nothing new for the Alamo City Soccer Club.  From its inception as the Montgomery County Monarchs, the franchise has always provided the 'awe' factor.  True to that tradition, the club announced this morning that it will retain team stalwart Thierry Henry and perhaps the most electrifying player in the BSL, Obafemi Martins, as the club's Designated Players for the 2014 season.

"There's no way Theirry Henry plays for anyone other than Alamo City unless he decides otherwise.  Before last season both parties felt that maybe the partnership had run its course.  We agreed that if we could find an amicable situation that we'd both move forward.  It turns out that we couldn't have been more wrong.  We stayed the course and we set records.  Now we're more focused than ever and are beyond happy to have Thierry leading the Battle yet again."

Add to him, the Nigerian International Superstar in Martins and you've got as deadly a combination as you'll find in any league.  The shake up of the Sounders roster cooled of Martins' hot start to the campaign but that shouldn't be a problem this season.  He's got a full off-season with the club and plenty of time to get work with the new additions.  All signs point to Martins blistering the BSL.

On the heels of the DP announcement, Alamo City also announced that it would retain Olmes Garcia as the clubs retention player.
