They've been close several times in the past few years. They've lost it on the final match day once and in the final two matches of the season once as well. In 2019 though, the Alamo City Battle Soccer Club was the side lifting the Honors Trophy. In a season where three clubs scored 90 or more goals, three clubs lost only 3 matches, and the three time defending champions finally look vulnerable again it was the club from San Antonio that finished on top. This is their first major trophy since the record breaking 2013 season. It's been a long time coming. The most frustrating aspect of the wait has been how agonizingly close the club has been (two 2nd place finishes, two playoff appearances, two Majors Cup Finals) in the interim. While there's relief in getting the monkey off their back, the Battle now have to focus on the ultimate goal. The BSL Championship trophy is in dire need of some company.
